i have a couple questions about my monitor. first being, it turns on with an "acer" splash screen which is fine, but it is lasting like 50 seconds, for no apparent reason, when it should be like 2 seconds. windows boots up completely in the time it takes my monitor to turn on. any suggestions of what to mess with/try to fix?

also, ive noticed this for quite some time, when I am bent down (head on arm on my desk) i can see these evenly spaced lines, or columns. theyre not highly noticable, but it is quite annoying, mostly because i know they shouldnt be there. how can I go about fixing this? Ive tried changing the refresh rate, but it didnt change anything. help?

    Hi,
Monitors seem to take longer to "warm up" as the get older, although, it may not be the monitor that is taking time, it may be the graphics adapter. You will need to try the monitor on another computer and see if it is just as slow.

The Acer screen staying on for a long time probably means the BIOS is having a little trouble communicating with hardware. Watch if drive LEDs or maybe the keyboard LED, stays on for a long time during the pause. You may need to reseat the connections inside the case. Drive cables, RAM, add-in cards (and maybe see if it is different with USB devices disconnected). You will need to pull out and reseat the connections.
[Actually, my daughters' computer is taking a long time at startup and I noticed today that the floppy drive is not working, I will try reseating the connections and even replacing the drive].

If you want to go into the BIOS setting, but the screen remains black too long, choose Restart from Windows shutdown menu.

the thing is, at first it was quick, like 3 seconds. then it started to get slow, but then I had to unplug the cords from my monitor to move the monitor itself into another room (i forget why, but the cats had to stay in my room & I didnt want any claws in my new monitor) after that it was quick again, but now its gone back to slow... its really weird. Ive tried updating the drivers too.

as far as the columns thing though, im pretty sure thats a fairly new development. the best way I could think to show what i mean is to post a picture. This is the best one I could get, it gives an idea anyway (I circled to help you see them too).

these continue all the way down the monitor. and all across it too. any ideas? what is reseating? like unplug & plug back in? haha. I do go into my tower every so often (like once a year maybe) to vacuum out all the dust. ive been doing that since I saw my brother do it to his a couple years ago. but im always so careful not to hit anything...
