I have a desktop windows xp with a printer and my new vista laptop wireless via router. How do I get the printer to work from the laptop? I did change the print share permissions on both computers, but I do not see the printer on my laptop... what did I miss?

    Thanks!

Not had any contact with Vista yet so don't know the exact procedure for this, I'm presuming you have shared the printer on the XP machine and given it a share name.
What you need to do now is install the printer on the Vista machine by using a UNC path (\\Computer Name\Printer Share Name) this is done the same way as installing a local printer.

Do you mean I need to install the printer on the laptop by using the CD? Or do you mean I use "add a printer "????

Try this Worked for me. Credit for answer is link below.

Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer.

Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next.

A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computer name\printer name ie. My computer's name is thelittlefield and the printer name is hppsc2110 so I typed in \\thelittlefield\hppsc2110

Yahoo! It worked. Go figure! I guess Microsoft thinks printers on a intranet are local.
