    My mistake - that was written before the days of streaming video I guess :(

    I am sorry that we have been unable to help you thus far - it would seem that no one has the answer - yet.

    I found a codec installation package that apparently IS for Windows 2000. :)

    Microsoft Windows Media: Codec Installation Packages for IT Professionals

    I think this is different than the codec package you already tried. The file name (WM9Codecs9x.exe) appears different than the one you already tried (WM9Codecs.exe).

    The download URLs for Win98, WinME, and Win2000 all appear to be the same.

    Just a couple of thoughts.

    1> Are you logged in as administrator
    1> Have you upgraded to SP4
    2> THEN downloaded latest upgrades to WM9

    i have applied this codec (WM9Codecs9x.exe) but same problem

    mailman here is latest work on this porblem the process last time u told me this procedure
    * Rename c:\program files\windows media player\npwmsdrm.dll to npwmsdrm.old
    * Copy the npwmsdrm.dll from your other computer to the c:\program files\windows media player\ folder.

    * Rename c:\winnt\system32\drmstor.dll to drmstor.old
    * Copy the drmstor.dll from your other computer to the c:\winnt\system32\ folder.

    * Rename c:\winnt\system32\drmclien.dll to drmclien.old
    * Copy the drmclien.dll from your other computer to the c:\winnt\system32\ folder.

    files i guesss it deosn't work after many time i tried i fould out drmclien.dll files keep coming into original file version the file that i copied from another computer so i did whole procedure in safe mood but the result same..but after uinstall wm9 to wm7 it seems sound work fine but may be bcs old version no video display running it runs media default visualizatin screen
    another question does repair installation can solve this problem n i don't want loss any data or program doing repai installation
    how can i do repair installation using windows 2000 i guess this last option we can do

    thanx a lot

    and this is for ephemarial
    yeah i m logged as adminstrator
    yeah i use windows 2000 after i get this problem then i updated to sp4
    the version i m using wm 9.00.00.2980
    i tried to download latest version form microsft or other souce link but files is always corrupted this is msge error even i tired on different computer
    extracting file failed. it is mostly likes caused by low memory(low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted cabinent.
    tq

    I'm sorry. I'm out of ideas at this point. :( It seems you are missing a necessary codec (or a codec is corrupted) but I have no idea about reputable places to look for codecs or how to test installed codecs.

    Perhaps someone will come along and point you to a good/safe source for WMP9 codecs for the streaming videos you have trouble with or perhaps someone will offer other troubleshooting ideas.

    I do not know if repairing your Windows 2000 installation will fix your streaming video issue.

    I do not know if repairing Windows 2000 can/will result in data loss. I strongly recommend you back up all important data before proceeding with any repairs to Windows 2000.

    NOTE: I suggest you wait for advice from someone who has first-hand experience with repairing Windows 2000 before proceeding with that last resort option.

    While you wait for expert advice, you may wish to carefully read the following documents that may or may not be helpful.

    If/when you decide to proceed with repairing your Windows 2000 installation, then I suggest you start a new thread in the Windows 2000 forum and ask for expert guidance. Include a link back to this thread so they have some background information about why you want to perform a repair.
