My computer seems to be getting old & slow - like me.

I noted that the properties of my C drive state that it is 27GB Used and only 10GB Free.

I cannot for the life of me think of why my hard drive might be so full.

Could it be that I have too many family pictures stored in "My Pictures" and duplicated in Photoshop Elements?

Would that kind of disk utilization slow my computer?

How can Icompress or free-up space?

    Thanks

Adding files to a pc doesn't slow a pc down...If it did, that would mean your pc would basically quit working if the drive was alomost full...

Have you scanned for malware etc?

Download Tree Size - that will show what is occupying your hard drive space.

Have you cleared out the temporary files? ....

Start > Run > type in %temp% > OK - everything shown is safe to delete - the odd file dated today will be in use and cannot be deleted.

Clear out files in C:\Windows\temp - same rider as above applies

Empty Temporary Internet files, set max to 50 Mb, or better still set to empty each time IE is closed ....

Tools > Options > Advanced - scroll down to Security > 'Empty temporary internet files when browser closed'

    Empty the Recycle Bin
