I have been receiving the automatic updates yellow shield pop up that I have 8 updates available, I click on install and then it tries to install the following:
    Update for Office 2003 (KB907417)
    OneNote 2003 Service Pack 2
    Update for OneNote 2003 (KB917148)
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB914455)
    Office 2003 Service Pack 2
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB923272)
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB924424)
Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB936557)
but then I get the following "Some updates could not be installed" and it list all of the above. I have Windows XP service pack 2, Media Edition 2002. I have been getting this for 2 1/2 weeks now and everytime I shut the pc down I get a message that windows is updating to not turn the pc off that it will turn off when done but I always get this. I don't think it updates. What can I do? I would like to update it but can't. Thanks in advance.

Ok I was tired of this and I started researching and found a fix to this. I just wanted to note it in case someone had the same issue. First I tried to re-intall office 2003 since all the updates were related to it but that did not worked I got a message saying "Error 25090 System Error -2147023838. Go to C:/programs/ms office/office11/1033/setup.chm and look for office source engine. There I got some helpful information. Here I learned that my office souce engine was disabled and it needed to be enabled. I right clicked on my computer went to manager and went to services and looked for office source engined and right clicked it, went to the properties of it and enabled it. I then ran the repair on office and was asked for installation cd of office. Once I had entered the cd path I continued the installation and it looked for some "sku" files can't really remember. Then I ran the update again and it worked I restarted the pc and all the updates got installed. I hope this works for others.

    Manually update

I have the same problem with XP Professional, only more updates, I've foundthat if you go to the Microsoft site and do a search for the kb#, you will be able to download and install the updates one at a time manually. I am looking for a fix and as there is no error code and the update log shows that all is okay this is hard to do.

For my own knowledge, are you running Norton, in the past I have had it change file names for security purposes, and am curious if this may be the case. Needless to say, I have changed to another security system, just in case.

When and if I find a fix, I will pass it on.
