When I go into a familiar and frequently used program, a NAV Security Alert pops up asking me if I want to permit or block the program. It says that NAV Worm Protection has detected a remote system that is attempting to access my computer. Since it's a reputable program I'm familiar with I choose to 'permit'. However, no matter what I do, even momentarily turning off NAV, the pop-up window disappears for half-a-second and returns immediately. It just won't go away no matter what I do, so I just move the window out of sight down below the toolbar. Does anyone know why NAV refuses to accept my 'permit'? Thank you.

It's the firewall, not the anti-virus protection that needs to be told that you've authorized this program to connect to the internet. Do you use the Norton firewall, too? If you do, you can click the "configure" button next to the firewall option, then click the "program" tab. From there you can adjust Norton to allow or restrict any Internet access to any Internet enabled program installed on your computer.

If it is the AV protection giving you the red "malicious file found" message, it means Norton is detecting something in the file as a red flag. If you could share the name of the program, either here or by PM, I'll see if I can duplicate Norton's behavior, then circumvent it. Please mention which version of Norton you have.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for your reply, Johanna.

I was searching for an item in the file-sharing program 'LimeWire' when the alert popped up - and stayed. Both my NAV 2005 and ZoneAlarm 7 are configured to permit full access to this program. I know that such file-sharing programs are not recommended or supported by this forum but I was looking for something which I couldn't find elsewhere
