I had Microsoft Office Pro 2000 installed in my Win XP with SP1. After getting all of the programs and driver updates from HP and Microsoft I installed the SP2 with success.
I decided to reinstall Office Pro 2000 again and mid way through the install it just stops and ejects the CD
    :( .
I have placed the 2nd disc in, went to microsoft.com, looked for patches, looked for install help after SP2, etc. I can't seem to find out anything about this. Can you suggest something else for me to try? Thanks so much.

Not sure why you reinstalled Office.....Did you UNinstall it first?

Have you rebooted inbetween all the changes?

I did uninstall office pro 2000 before I upgraded computer with SP2. Now when I try installing the program I keep getting error messages like:

error 1305: Error reading from file:
    D:/PFiles/common/msshared/clipart/autoshap/bd18205_.wmf.
Verify that files exsists and that you can access it.
( got past this one by opening files from disc)

Then I got past two more doing the same thing,
but when this one came up I could not get past it and had to quit installation :( .

error 1305: Error reading from file:
    D:/PFiles/common/msshared/vba/bve6.dll
Verify that files exsists and that you can access it.

My virus protection, unused running programs, and firewall were off during that time. I don't know what else to do.

I ran MS Office Pro 2000 on Win XP for years with out problems, is the SP2 installed having anything to do with it?

It could be a dirty or scratched cd and or a dirty cd drive.

Concur with Steve - it has nothing to do with SP 2 - the error messages clearly state that the file(s) cannot be read from the D:\ drive - your CD-ROM drive.

A possible workaround - copy the CD's to your hard drive and try an install from there. You may get away with it, but if the CD's are damaged .....

You were so right!! The CD was damaged, You couldn't tell by looking at it, but I cleaned my CD and tried again without sucess. I borrowed my friends Cd, since she had the same program, and her disc installed with out any problems.
With all that I tried, it was a simple basic problem solved. Thank you so much.
