I'd like to thank everybody for their help and input (hopefully not too prematurely :D ) and I'll update again in a few days and see how it goes.
I'm pleased that I (acidentally) stumbled across this site, and hopefully I can be a help to someone else!

I'm glad your issue appears fixed! I crossed my fingers for you. :)

I'm pleased you did too! The high quality of your first post in this thread shows you are logical and mindful of information that might be helpful for seeking help both for yourself and others with the same or similar problem. I'm looking forward to any assistance you might provide to others.

Even if you don't become active helping others, this thread (all by itself) might turn out to be very helpful to many people with the same or similar issue. Your thread topic is detailed with several important keywords that quickly/accurately identify the problem. Your first post contains many details about what troubleshooting actions you had already performed and details about your computer configuration...and you apparently researched and found the DebugWiz instructions so you could immediately provide dump logs. Great job!

You have set an excellent example that I hope others will follow. I'm inclined to add your first post to my "Examples of Good Thread Posts at Windows BBS" thread. :)

BTW, if you don't have any BSODs for the next week or two, I'll put cpc2004's post on my screen and bow to him. ;)

    Mailman,
That DebugWiz is a godsend! Anybody that needs to try to read a dumpfile should be using that program. Kudos to the programmer who brought that to us! It is so much easier to us than the Windows Debug program. I'll be trolling here to see if I can lend anything useful to others. On the bright side, I got my wife to okay the purchase of an 8800GTS :D ! I'll keep all updated...and thanks again!

Tremendous thread to say the least. 1Hawaii50 - there are several who hope you stick around and participate. Lets hope this Panda related memory corruption (for lack of any better terminology) has resolved your problem permanently.

mailman - you better go back and read posts #39 & 41 before you set your screen permanently.

    with fingers crossed .......
    Regards,
    ;)

Ok, I'm officially declaring Panda as the source of my headaches. No crashes since un-installing it 9 days ago. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I've got Comodo/AVG up and running for a few days now w/o any problems.

Really nice job, all the way around - thats the way this board is supposed to work. My compliments to you, 1Hawaii50 - you provided the type of information and feedback that made this possible. I hope you stick around and share some of your knowledge with those seeking help on other problems.

    ;)

    Good call Dave - :)

I've just received a reply on another forum where the OP was getting the same crash errors as you. He was also using the same version of Panda as you. He's now using Panda 2008, and no more BSODs. He was reluctant to remove Panda because he had just renewed a 12 month subscription. You might want to check it out if you've also paid for a lengthy subscription.

    Peterdiva,
Thanks for the info, I only had a couple months left on my scrip anyway, so no big loss, I got the program at a steal anyway. For now AVG+Comodo seems to be a good working combo so I'll stick with that for the time being. Thanks again!
