I was trying to load XP pro on a computer I bought for my son and was having difficulty with the display resolution. I changed something and now I have no display at all. Can anyone please help?
    Thanks,
    Dan

Did you check if it is unpluged ?
Is it "plug and play "?

Dan - Welcome to the Board :)

Do you see a text based display when you boot the computer up - before the Windows splash screen appears?

Is the power light on the monitor on and is it green or orange?

It is plugged in and powered up. When I reboot the computer, XP tries to start and I get the display that says bios is starting. After that, the display is black and non-responsive. Let me say thanks in advance for those of you have replied with suggestions.

    Hi,

When you see the bios screen, start tapping f8 key.
Hopefully that will get you to a screen where you can select to start the computer in safe mode.
If it works check your video refresh rate, try lowering it.

    Hope it helps

As stated boot into Safe Mode (F8). Right click on your desktop then select Properties. Select the Settings tab in the Display Properties box then select the Monitor tab. Set the Screen refresh rate between 60 and 70 Hertz. Very old CRT monitors may not function will refresh rates higher than 70 Hertz. Also make sure the box for Hide modes that this monitor cannot display is checked.

    XP display

I tried the safe mode, but it doesn't go any farther than trying to load the drivers and the system seems to lock up. Any thoughts?
