    Hey

i have an appliacation on an internal network that is run soley across the network like this

    appliacation is hosted on server
computor a maps a network drive to the letter Z and creates a shortcut looking like Z:\folder\application.exe when this shortcut is double clicked it loads the program from the server because there is no need for the program to be installed on computor a at the same time computor a is using the program the server which has the same setup can also use the same program and see the changes dynamicly

my question is Is it possible to have this set up running across the internet so i can remotly use the program say when im at a customers house?

i have looked in to creating Virtual Shell Drives but i cant seem to map the drive once its created?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Please Use a meaningfull subject. I have adjusted yours. Thankyou.

It is possible. It is also going to run like a dog and be difficult to secure.

A far better option would be to either:
    1. Install the program on the remote client
    2. Use a remote desktop or terminal service to remotely access the application
If the latter you could look at something like the Netgear SSL device to provide and securely manage the remote access

Remote desktop is designed to work over a slow connection. If you struggle to get it to work, you'll really struggle to get an application to work that is not designed to work that way.

Not knowing what application you are running or if additional required data from server must be available ... but can this program be carried / run via a flash drive??

That always possible, programs can always be run from flash drives, I don't know anything thats can't be run from a flash drive, even XP can be run from one, if it is big enough or scrapped out enough.

If you have access to the installer of the application and a small flash drive, install it on there, that way you can use the space for the program, files and use less hard drive space.
