For some reason at home, I always have a problem with cookies remembering me. When I'm at work, whenever I go to yahoo mail, if I've been away for more than 8 hours, it asks for my password only (remembers my login name) but at home, I have to enter my login name and password many many times.

    Anyone know why?

Have you compared the cookie handling policy on the two computers?

IE > Tools > Internet Options > Privacy tab

  3. to hide this advert.

I have it on low at home and med-low at work. What exactly should I be looking for besides that?

Check out the privacy settings in your firewall - if there are any. I seem to recall that the CA (eTrust firewall) which I used to use had these settings - OTH it may have been their Antivirus, so check both FW and AV for privacy settings.

At home, I have my firewall and antivirus turned off. I've always had this problem at home and never at work, even when I've had different work computers and different home computers.

Think it could be an XP home edition vs pro issue?

    No.

Just a couple of final comments on this, then I am devoid of any further ideas ....

I run BT Yahoo as my dialup and access web mail on BT Yahoo through my broadband connection which is with another ISP - in the login box there is a 'Remember me on this computer' check box which I have checked. Anything similar on your login?

As a last resort try adding your Yahoo mail page to the Trusted Zone, should not be necessary, but ....

I did the fix, not sure if it will work, do you know how I can tell if yahoo puts a capital in its cookies?

What folder are cookies stored in?

I also noticed my security was set to med high so I changed it to just medium.

In Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View check 'Show hidden files and folders' and uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files'. Reset when you are done.

    The path is .....

    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Cookies
Should not affect Yahoo - I run at Medium-high.

IE 6 or IE 7? - the location may have moved. I don't have a box running IE 6 anymore.

If you go, in IE, Tools > Internet Options > General tab - Browsing History > Settings > View files - do you see any cookies - in particular a Yahoo cookie?
