Hello everyone. I am just wondering what do you guys think about the program Spyware Terminator? (www.spywareterminator.com) I have used it for about 2 years now and haven't run into any problems with it and I think its one of the best antimalware programs on the internet. I heard that the company which is Crawler used be assocaited with IBIS which is a known adware distrubutor. Would you guys trust using the program? Thanks for the comments. :)

Spyware Terminator is listed on Spyware Warrior's list of rogue antispyware, etc. apps - admittedly only a minor adverse comment, but the very fact it is listed is enough for me.

    I agree with Pete.

I would steer clear of ANY application listed on Spyware Warrior's Rogue/Suspect list, whether it's listed now or ever in the past.

There are so many reputable applications to choose from, I don't see a need to try an app that is (or ever was) listed as Rogue/Suspect.

Spyware Terminator was listed on the spywarewarrior rogue list. It is NOT listed there anymore.

Please be aware that the current "Spyware Terminator" listing is for one offered from invender.nl, which is an entirely different product.

The Spyware Terminator the OP is referring to is the one offered at www.spywareterminator.com, NOT invender.nl (which is listed for lack of a trial version).

Please read the note here about the previous listing of Spyware Terminator: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm#spyterm_note

Also view Eric Howes' note about the listing here at DSLReports:
    http://www2.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16652263 (2006-08-19 08:18:52 by eburger68 - Eric Howes)

"we never claimed that Spyware Terminator was malware itself "

Tokar - Welcome to the Board :)

I see from your CP (email address) that you have a commercial interest in Spyware Terminator so your robust response is both understandable and justified. However .....
but has exactly the same name. It is inevitable that your product will be confused with that of invender.nl although, of course, it is not clear on their site which program is Spyware Terminator as it is in Dutch. This must be extremely embarrasing to you and I would have thought that you would have taken the appropriate action.

I can assure you that in working the Board we do not have the time to read all the small print and sidenotes, especially when they are far from obvious.

Nevertheless I am happy to see that you have put the record straight.

Yes, I work for Crawler. However, be aware that the "crawler.com" email domain is actually a free webmail service: http://my.crawler.com (it is the same as Inbox.com mail service).

My "corporate" email uses a different domain (http://www.xacti.com).

Eh, it is only confused by those who live and die by the SpywareWarrior list. Living and dying by that list is not necessarily bad, but people have to make sure they understand what the rogue list is about and the decisions made on delisted apps (as Eric said in that old post I linked). And for more recent purposes, people need to realize that list is somewhat out of date.

Considering most people on the internet dont know about the SpywareWarrior list, have never read it, and will not post on a security forum asking for more info about spyware terminator, its not a big deal. You get a few confusions here and there about it, but it is easily cleared because these truths are self evident, that (all men are created equal :D) Spyware Terminator isnt the one currently listed.

If someone comes on our forum and asks about the de-listing, im not going to deny it, its there, its not disappearing, so we are open about it.
