The hard drive on one of my computers was failing so I copied the important files including the Mozilla profile in D&S to the 2nd hard drive.
I then installed WINXP PRO SP2 on a new drive, moved the profile to an appropriate position in D&S and proceeded to install the latest SeaMonkey from the ZIP file.
When Seamonkey opens, you unfortunately get this Seamonkey PR screen and I have no idea how to get to the browser or find a profile. So I closed the PR screen and then opened the browser from the .exe file. It did not find the profile and proceeded to set up a default profile - which I did not want. I noticed in the mail program that I could specify the mail folder - so I specified the mail folder in the old profile. This found all the old emails. But none of the address book data or bookmarks came over. So the situation seems to be this: Seamonkey is using the new profile for the browser and the mail is being stored in the old profile. The old profile was named cecele and I renamed the default (not knowing it) to cecele. The only profile that come up in profile manager is cecele but it seems to be the default profile. How do I get everything to work from the old profile? Stumped!
BTW, when I look at the profiles using Explorer, the one I put there is called cecele while the other is called default, but not cecele, the name that appears in profile manager.

    Bob,

You have a mell of a hess here! I am going to assume that you copied the profile name folder (cecele) to the new HD, but if not, please correct me. Renaming the file in the Profile Manager does not change the name of the folder in Windows Explorer...

I think you're fine though, and can access the original profile by doing this:

    Close SeaMonkey
In Windows Explorer, move the newly created Profile folder (default) to a temporary folder.

    Open the SeaMonkey Profile Manager
    Click on: Manage Profiles
    Click on: Delete Profile
Close Profile Manager - then reopen

    Click on: Manage Profiles
    Click on: New Profile
Name the profile exactly as the original profile is named in Windows Explorer.

Now open SeaMonkey, and you should be back to the original profile.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.

Ramona, many thanks for your help and suggestions. You clarified that the name change is artificial and cosmetic. The computer is not mine and since the mail is working fine they want me to forget about correcting the situation of the mail being in one profile and the browser stuff being in another. There will be a problem when I upgrade the browser to a newer version.
I am wondering what to do in the future when the opening PR screen from Mozilla appears. How do I get rid of it so Seamonkey finds my profile.

1.The upgrade of the browser goes with the existing profile.
    2. Do you mean PM (profile manager)? Is only the new profile name listed? Or, also the old one?
I think that Ramona answered your question from:
    and on.

    Westside-
Whne I installed SM, I had moved the profile from an old HD to the new one. But SM did not find it and instead set up a new one, default, in the same directory.
I solved all the problems by transferring the mail programs from the old profile to the default and now everything is OK.
    Thanks for your help.
I just hope that an upgrade finds the profiles rather than set up a new default.

You made changes to the Profile, whether you know it or not. So, now that you can access your profile, it will work with any update, if you have only one profile in the PM. If you have more than one profile listed, then refer to this article from Ramona's website .
