    Is it good to use bootcfg.exe( in XP) in window 2000? and is it available?

    Don't know for sure but the xp bootcfg.exe will very likely work on 2K.

    However, I can't imagine anyone needing to change their boot.ini file often enough to need the program unless they were doing development or working with a large network or something.

    While windows is running, the .exe won't do anything you can't do with notepad. Just a matter of setting boot.ini as other than a read-only file which just takes a second and un-hiding it which takes another second or two.

    As a command line tool from the repair console it will do a number of interesting things - and most of them quite dangerous.

    Out of curiosity, what has you so concerned with boot.ini the past few days?

    You're probably correct. I have also edited it a few times w/o any apparent adverse effect. But boot.ini isn't a text file, it is more close to a HEX file, so I just afraid I may change something w/o knowing it.
