Ad-Aware SE Personal Free

Hello,

I cannot retrieve updates for Ad-Aware SE free. It stops at 5%. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jeena,

Have you ever been able to update? Lastest update is dated 7-23-2007. Whenever my update stops at 5%, it is because there is no update available and a window pops up stating "No updated components available."

Yes, I've always been able to update. When it states that there is a new definition file and asks if I want to update I hit ok. A box pops up that says
"downloaded file could not be read, please update again." If I try to update again, same message.

Do I need to uninstall the old Ad-Aware first?

I still receive the updates for AdAware SE with no problems. Usually if the update stalls it is due to a busy server. Just try again later.


It is recommended to uninstall the older AdAware SE version before installing AdAware 2007.

 

Too many 'issues' with Ad-aware 2007 for me. I returned to SE and am receiving the updates.

 

Is there a way to uninstall a spybot update. I ask this because when I downloaded updates for spybot I clicked on one of them that I never did before -- something about TCP/IP??? I'm wondering if that is affecting my Ad-Aware, because right after that is when I had the problem.

Well, after much searching on the problem, I just decided to download the 2007 version, and I was able to download the definitions. Thanks everyone for your input!

 

Adaware 2007?

When I downloaded Adaware 2007 and put it on my Desktop, I tried numerous times to install, with no luck. I just left it there as I already had Adaware SE and have had no problems running or updating it.

However after a few days I scanned my computer with AVG And It found a Trojan Horse Generic 5.PIO And it was located in the Desktop copy of Adaware 2007???

The only way that I was able to remove it was to Delete Adaware 2007 from my Desktop and then empty my trash bin.

My question is did that Trojan Horse come in with the original Adaware 2007 Download or did it just find a home there and came in some other way? Maybe in an E-mail? Thanks loonychoons

Boy the AVG forum providers sure don't like anyone telling them that they have a False Positive Problem? Do they? You would think that any feedback like that would be valuable to them?

Anyhow no prob about the name, but I think there is a member called Lonny?
