Welcome to the BBS. It may be something as simple as you having an unbootable CD in your optical drive tray but it would be helpful if you would give us a little more information regarding your computer, its configuration, problem history & etc.

    ;)

I dont know exactly what you need its an HP Pivilion and when i boot it up it goes to CDR101: Not ready Reading Drive m Abort retry fail? i have never had this problem before it was running fine and i noticed that the task manager didnt work when i hit ctrl alt delete so i can system restore and set it back 2 weeks and it ran that and restarted itself and wont boot up to windows anymore i do i fix it from there it wont even let me hit F10 for system recovery

Hi, sapper. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

Assuming you do not have a CD in your CD drive tray...

Since you cannot even boot and the error message appears related to your CD drive, I suggest you open the case (while computer's power is OFF) and reseat the CD drive's data cable (at both the motherboard end and the CD drive end) and CD drive's power cable. Then see if you can successfully boot.

If you cannot boot after reseating the cables, then power off the computer again and disconnect the CD drive's data cable and CD drive's power cable.

Then see if you can successfully boot. If you can successfully boot, then the CD drive's data cable or power supply cable/plug might be defective.

I would suggest replacing the CD drive's data cable and/or using a different power supply cable to your CD drive, if available. (Alternatively, do you have a spare CD drive you can try with your existing cables?)

If replacing the cable(s) doesn't solve the problem (or trying a spare CD drive with your existing cables does make your computer bootable), then I would suggest replacing/repairing the CD drive.

Please provide feedback about what you do and let us know whether you are successful booting or not (and the exact wording/spelling of any other error messages you might encounter).

EDIT: BTW, you could try placing the CD drive in a different Windows XP computer (if available) and see if the drive functions properly. If the drive functions properly in a different computer, then we can focus on the cables and/or your HP Pavilion computer.
