    Hello,

While sending big attachhments with emails, browsing with internet explorer 7 on my vista pc is impossible as if no connection is available not just slower while the same procedure running xp pro on the same pc is slow but possible. I have a 2mb download and 256k upload connection. Is there any settings or maybe registry tweaks that I can do please ?

    Hello Mario.

    Try this:
    1. Go to this website. http://enhanceie.com/ie/tweaks.asp
    2. Scroll down to where is says Speed Tweaks
    3. Click Increase The Connection Limit
    4. Click run and then you will get a prompt saying do you want to merge this information into the registry
    5. Click yes to confirm it then click ok.
    6. Restart Internet Explorer for the tweak to take effect.

I have used this tweak on all version of Internet Explorer including Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer does indeed load faster and webpages load faster as well. BTW after you have applied this tweak if you're not using a proxy, uncheck IE's "Automatically detect settings" option on the Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings dialog box. The tweak will not work if the Automatically detect settings check box is checked.

If Internet Explorer still is slow, download and run ATF Cleaner. http://www.majorgeeks.com/ATF_Cleaner_d4949.html

    1. Double click ATF Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    2. Where is says select files to delete, click select all so all of the boxes are checked
    3. Click the Empty Selected button.
    4. You will recieve a Done confirmation dialog box saying that ATF Cleaner has freed X amount of MB. Click ok.
    5. Then click Exit to close the program.

Let me know if Internet Explorer is running faster now then it was before. Thanks. :)

    hi,
I did the reg tweak but can not really say if there was an improvement while browsing, what I can say is that browsing while uploading, i.e sending mail with let say a 4mb attachment, is impossible to an extent that I get:

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

    Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
    The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

    What you can try:
    Diagnose Connection Problems

    More information

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

    Internet connectivity has been lost.
    The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

    For offline users

You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
    To view subscribed feeds

Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.

To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)

Click Tools , and then click Work Offline.
Click the Favorites Center button , click History, and then click the page you want to view. "
and I get this on all web pages I try.

As soon as mail finishes uploading I can then browse normally, and this only happens while on Vista, on Xp it get slower (as expected) but still able to browse as if on half the speed I normally do

Hi Mario. That is very strange where you can browse fine but when you send e-mail attachments thats when you lose the connection or it is very slow. Did you download and run ATF Cleaner? Was there any noticable difference in the connection speed after you ran the program? I would apprecaite more input about your problem. Thanks! :)

    Hi Evan,

I did run ATF cleaner but still with the same problem. Its not that I loose connection since on my DU meter I can see the upload but it seems that at the time of sending mail all the upload bandwith is taken all over by the mail program, and if I am not wrong, downloading a web page needs some upload bandwidth too and it seems that no upload is allowed when sending mail.

Hi agin Mario. I now see what the problem is. I get the feeling when you are sending e-mail attacments all of the CPU usage is getting used up. Have you tried shutting down all backround programs including the programs in the system tray then try and send the e-mail attachments? Also how much RAM do you have installed? It could be that your computer is using all of the RAM you have therefore you experience very slow browsing speed. If you have a low amount of RAM I would consider upgrading it to a decent amount such as 1 GB. If it turns out that you have a decent amount of RAM installed and you have already shut down all of your backround programs and still the problem persists then I am all out of ideas on this issue. :( I am sure though other members will provide their possible solutions for you to try. Good Luck.

    hello Evan,

I don't think hardware is the problem in fact I found a way (this morning) around this problem by using another mail (Windows Mail) program. I tried sending a 4mb attachment and browsed as if nothing was uploading funnily enough using also full upload bandwidth, according to my DU meter, as the other mail program did (Incredimail). Maybe thers some bug in the program, and the reason that I do not use Windows Mail is that it is not compatable with web based mail account including HOTMAIL mail. Thanks again for your help and interest,

    Best Regards,

    mario:)
