I have a dial up connection I want to share between 2 computers, they both run XP Pro SP2, the reason I am wanting to do this is because the one is not near a telephone line, nor do I have the cables for it, they are both networked into a wireless router and each can see each other. I have googled this topic and came up unsuccessful.

    its called internet sharing
    Microsoft's own long explanation:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306126

basically what you do is enable the internet connection sharing .
In the networking is a switch " allow other computer users....

you select from either networking device ( modem or network card) a setup of which is input ( modem) and output ( network card)
You can connect a crossover cable ( not a standard ethernet cable) to the network card in computer number 2
Easiest way is to use a router
The standard ethernet cable runs to one of the 4 lan ports in the router
DO NOT use the ONE WAN PORT ( where the internet usually goes in )
    thats all
Obviously the computer with the modem has to be turned on and connected to the internet

I have looked at both of those options and neither worked, I played around with my network for a little while and finally got it to work, but I only have on issue, my PC that is using the shared connection, isn't using the connection, the connection is transferring data just honkey dorey but it isn't using the connection at all. I can't even get a ping!

    Any suggestions?

I solved it, after 3 days of fiddling with the network, and using different programs to try and get connected I finally figured it out!!

The DNS on the client PC wsn't set the the right setting, I looked first at the page Arie has posted on the beginning day of starting this and it didn't seem to work, and tonight after looking more thoroughly at the page I found the troubleshoot page, it told me what I needed to know, thank all of you guys for helping me.
