Hello... I hope someone can help me.
I am trying to back up all my photos to disc which I have done many a time before but this time I keep getting the error "There is no disc in the drive ". The drive is a DVD-RW.... I have tried various discs and it keeps coming up with the same message. I have been into device manager and everything seems ok. I've tried rebooting several times. I am using the Windows copying facility, no other CD burning software on my computer.
Hope someone can help.. thanks in advance.

A couple specs of dust on the drive's lens could cause this.

Can try compressed air or get a cd cleaning kit.

    Nope... that didn't work.

I then went on to download a trial version of Nero and now I can burn the CDs successfully... must be something up with the Windows software.

A combination DVD/CD burner has two separate lenses for burning either a DVD or CD. The CD may act right even if the DVD lens is dirty or bad.

Sounds like a friend of mine Noel who has a "Vodoo " room in his basement where expensive to replace laptop dvd/cd always work but not back at home.

If it works using Nero, how can it be a dirty lens?
