Hi, theholyfork. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

Please carefully follow all the instructions in this link and then paste a few of your most recent DebugWiz-generated BSOD dump log analysis reports in this thread.

The DebugWiz application should be run while connected to the Internet so your Windows Debugging Tools can retrieve the proper "symbols ". The additional information the DebugWiz-generated reports provide might help us narrow down the culprit more quickly.

    A critical program error occurs:
The DUMP file will be found in \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\user.dmp

For BSOD errors the DUMP file will be found at C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Minixxxxxx-xx.dmp (mini-model setting) or be found for large model settings at C:\MEMORY.DMP

An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an

    You did great! :)

Please post a couple more dump logs for other recent crashes so we can see if there are any apparent patterns.

You have a problem with your wireless card or network adaptor ....
and maybe a problem with your TrendMicro software .....
I would concentrate on the first and uninstall/update/reinstall the drivers.

Also appears there may be an issue with Trend Micro's Internet Security Suite 2007 (PC-cillin 2007).

    You're welcome. :)

BTW, keep in mind PeteC and I are not dump analysis experts. We have only one expert I know of (cpc2004) who drops in occasionally to help.

The last crash dump you posted is for a program crash (instead of a BSOD). If you can provide us with a couple more BSOD-related dump logs they might help us.

    Also,
Were you connected to the Internet when you generated that log?

You might need to download and install the proper symbols package for your operating system. The Symbols package is best downlowaded via a high-speed internet connection. A dial-up connection might be too slow to download the package.

Specifically what did you do regarding PcScnSrv.exe? PcScnSrv.exe might not have been a problem in the first place. I only provided the link to the Google search results as a possible avenue to investigate.

What are your hardware specifications for your wireless card or network adapter?

Everest is handy for determining hardware specifications.

What brand and model number is your laptop?

ok thanks, a few more questions, how do i get more BSOD dump logs?, and yes i was connected to the internet when i generated that last log, so i downloaded the file you linked me to, do i generate another log?

The PcScnSrv.exe problem was it was slowing my computer down big time, so i was able to fix that by updating trend-micro, and now my computer runs faster than it did when it wasnt fixed

and is the hardware specifications you wanted this?:

The driver for your Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter can be downloaded from here .....

    http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_3000.html

In the dropdown list under Windows XP select 802bg
Yes please - be sure to be connected to the internet while you debug.
Run the dump file through our Dump Data Collection Tool - which I assume is how you debugged the other dumps. To ensure that the dump file is not overwritten by the next BSOD dump .....

Right click My Computer icon > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings and ensure that 'Overwrite any existing file' is unchecked

The BSOD dump log you posted was
    C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini080607-02.dmp

The numbers in the file name indicate that was your 2nd BSOD on Aug. 6, 2007.

I expect there are more .DMP files located in the C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\ folder.

BTW, I noticed PeteC replied while I was composing this message but I'll leave this message as-is. :)

EDIT: The Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter driver update PeteC pointed you to might solve your problem. If so, then further BSOD dump logs won't be necessary. :)

I expect the drivers on the European site would work fine. But, to be on the safe side, go with an American site (if you can locate the drivers). I am having trouble locating the drivers via http://global.acer.com/support/download.htm

If your BSODs seem random (you cannot reproduce BSODs at will), then you'll have to hope you don't get a BSOD for several days. I don't know of a better way to verify your problem is fixed.

If the Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter driver update does not resolve your issue, then I think we may need to see if there is a conflict such as described below.

Both of your BSOD dump logs seem to implicate bcmwl5.sys (for your network adapter) and TM_CFW.sys (for your Trend Micro anti-virus).

I Googled bcmwl5.sys TM_CFW.sys and found this Windows BBS thread that seems like it might be similar to your issue. According to that thread, there was a conflict involving Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security Antivirus software.

    I would be inclined to
    • download a different reputable anti-virus (such as AVG Anti-Virus),
    • disconnect from the Internet
    • uninstall Trend Micro,
    • restart your computer
    • then install AVG antivirus
    • restart your computer

Use your computer as normal with AVG Anti-Virus (instead of Trend Micro) installed for several days and see if your BSOD problem goes away.

In any case, be sure you have only one anti-virus program active in memory because anti-virus programs tend to conflict with each other and decrease security ... but be sure to have anti-virus active in memory while connected to the Internet.

I don't know if your Trend Micro installation includes a software firewall. If so (and if you decide to uninstall Trend Micro), then you should use a different reputable software firewall while connected to the Internet. :)

Im positive this would be fine, but im just making sure, i am going to uninstall trend-micro, but i use comcast so i can get McAfee for free, that would work...right?

Ok thats what i thought, but ya never know, thanks!

One more question, this has nothing to do with the bluescreen but more about my laptop, whenever i have my charger plugged in, my laptop seems to make this very annoying high pitched squeaking noise, i know its either my charger or battery, but is there anything you guys can think of that i can do, ive been wanting to get a better battery, which would give me a longer time to use my laptop since this one only gives me 1 and a half hours to use, and the other would give me 3, and my charger has been working fine it still charges my laptop, but the noise is extremely annoying....

Do you think i can do anything besides replace the battery or charger or both..?

Thank you both so much for all your help
