I would like to access the fax services in Windows XP Home. However, when I try to install the fax, a window appears saying "The file Fxsapi.dll from the Windows XP Home Edition CD-Rom is needed." I have a Sony PCV-RX650 and there was no Windows XP Home Edition CD-Rom included. There is a system recovery disc. Do I get that file from this disc or is there some other way to obtain it?

Hopefully you have a full installation CD on that recovery disk or you have an i386 directory on your hard drive you can refer it to. Otherwise I would call Sony for XP Home CD that you should have rec'd with your system.

    fax service

I am having a similar problem trying to install the fax service with Windows XP home edition. It says I need file Fxsapi.dll and then says to insert the CD-Rom in the floppy disk A drive. When I put the Windows CD in the CD drive, it will not use it and continues to tell me to put the CD in the floppy drive.
    Any suggestions?

Are you sure there isn't a Browse button on the dialog box popping up asking you to insert the CD-ROM?

You should be able to either browse to the correct drive and folder, or just write in the correct path to the file Windows need for the installation.

    Laage,
Thank you for your suggestion. I tried the browse button, and went to the CD drive, but the fax installation would not accept it and says "set up can not copy the file ". It keeps saying it wants the "floppy disk CD-Rom in the A drive ". An extremely confused message!

Have you tried to dig up the missing DLL from the Windows CD-ROM and tried to copy it to a Floppy Disk?

That might be worth trying when Windows is behaving this way!
