I have Netscape 7.2 email with about 5 email addresses and for some reason all I am getting is a new start up screen with a registration Wizzard. I can see the profiles and the old prefs.ps file etc. but I cannot get to a screen to redirect the locations. The only thing I can do is reenter each email address etc. I had a lot of sub folders with a lot of data under each one. HELP!

    Welcome to the Forum, Colonade!

    Colonade,

Open Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings
    Highlight a Mail Account
    Click on: Server Settings
    Scroll down to: Local directory:
Click on the Browse tab to the right of the Local directory field
Select the Mail Account folder that is your default, and contains your Mail

    Close Netscape - then reopen
Your mail should now be accessible. Follow this procedure for all five of your email accounts.

Let us know if you have further questions.

No email accounts show up to "highlight "

Nothing is showing up to highlight, no email accounts appear on the left side, and the "Wizzard" comes up to set up account(s). It's like starting new. Do I start entering the old accounts? I had a lot of sub folders etc.?

It never happened to me, but if you have no access to your mail, I would set up an account exactly as you had it before. Then, you would see the Mail Settings, and, then you can make the selection as described by Ramona.
Your original mail account should be of the type pop.isp.net, while the newly set up would be pop.isp-1.net. Doing the Browse trick should get you back to the original account. It is still there, unless you got a major computer wipeout.

Changed the Path; data is there but can't see

I have set up the first (#1) of the 5 email accounts exactly the same as before and when I go to "Local Folders" and browse I see that there are is now a new folder for each account with a "-1" There is also a "Local Folders" and a Local Folders-1" (all of the -1 are new). When I look in the sent or received folders, there is nothing, yet I can still see that there is data in the folders. How do I get to see this back? I can manually set up each folder back.

I lost my entire reply. So, not having time, I will just point out that Ramona said
Local directory, not Local folders. Local directory is accessible from the Mail and News account wizard, and will be at the bottom of Server settings.

    Thanks

    THANKS:)

Under the "Edit" you select "main & Newsgroup Settings" and then select the Server Settings and then change the local directory on that email address back to the old one... and you get your data back... wow.

It should work. I am barely using NS7.2, so my terminology may be a bit off, but you seem to have gotten the idea.

    Best Email software?

What is best to use now? Thunderbird, or is there better?:)

NS7.2 is a suite of mail and browser, etc, while Thunderbird is mail only.
Seamonkey1.1.4 is the latest version similar to Netscape7.2. You may be able to use the same profile as that of Netscape, however, I would opt for Thunderbird for mail, and Firefox as browser. Yo can import the NS7.2 as you install them.
