Whenever I compose an e-mail and send it, it goes to the Outbox rather than being sent immediately. Can someone tell me where the option is to change this behavior? Thanks.

Hi James, the setting to send messages immediately is found under:

Tools>Options>Mail Delivery "Mail account options" put a check mark in the box next to the "Send messages immediately when connected ".

OK your way out. You most likely will have to restart your computer for the setting to "stick ". I had too.

Outlook still sends the message to the Outbox but then immediately sends it from there. Go figure!!

John, perhaps just one more question if I might. I've only recently started using Outlook (an older form as you can see) and I like it. I've gone to MS's site and upgraded to SR1 as well as done some downloading. Is it important to update to SR2 and SR3 for security purposes? If it simply adds some features, I'd probably forgo the update. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi James, I would recommend you upgrade to SP2 and SP3 (you noted SR2 & 3 but I think it is actually "SP "). Most of the upgrades were security related. I don't remember if any were to add features. I don't use Outlook myself anymore (used to use it at work) and used Outlook Express at home but have switched to Thunderbird about a year ago due to a conflict with OE and my anti-virus program.

I would have no problems switching to Outlook but would have to train my wife to use it. Not something I want to do.
