1st off, I did HJT and related already, so it is not virus, etc.. Also did disk cleanups, disk defrag, reg cleaner, Space Monger, etc. http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=66483

    Hardware/software: IBM T42 1.7 G, 768 Ram 32g HDXPs2, Off 03, NIS 07

    Here are the symptoms:
    - Its been happening since I downloaded NIS07 2 months ago.
    - As I surf it takes up more and more of my system resources on IE 7, basically after an hour only 1 window can be opened (have had pops say all resources are committed).
    - Ever since I down loaded the NIS 07, it has been eating up my HD like crazy, a 1/4 to 1/3 gig a week. I'll be out in another 3 months at this rate.
    - So you ask what does this have to do with NIS? When turning off the computer, I keep getting 2 boxes (ccApp) and (ccSvcHst.exe) which are both NIS 07 files.
    - BTW, when I reboot, I can then surf like normal again, but again graduallly less and windows can be opened and the system slows down to a crawl after about a hour.

So what are the experts opinions on this? Have other XP and NIS07 had this same problems too? I have learned that NIS07 was meant for Vista. I made a mistake, I should have kept NIS06 as it worked perfectly and just renewed the subscription VS byuying the NIS07. But that is not the case, so is there any recomendations from the knowledagable techs here?

You are wrong in thinking that NIS07 is for Vista only - it runs on both XP and Vista .....

    http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/products/nis2007/system.html

FWIW I dumped Norton several years ago as the program became ever more bloated and intrusive.

However it should be possible to determine what is eating up space on the drive. Have you looked at temp files, Temporary Internet files - are there any Norton files which continue to grow in size? Try a program like Tree Size to monitor file growth.
What is the message in the boxes? Sounds like you may have a bad install.

I did space monger already which I think is similar the Tree size. I double checked a few things that were suspeicious, but were OK, (see link to my post in HJT forum).

The messages are it is shutting these applications down, takes about 10-15 seconds to do so. (the shut down is hanging up on them).

    Repair is not listed

I removed 2005 NAV(a bugger to removce this one-kept getting error messages), NIV updates, and NIS 07 earlier this evening. Redownloaded the NIS07. Have not surfed enough yet to see if it'll make a difference.

    Onto another item.

When I open Outlook I get an error message relating to NIS. (even beore I removed it, even after all SYm files were gone, and still there after the redownload), The add-in "C:\Program iles\Symantec Antivirus\vpmsece.dll" could not be installed or loaded. This problem can be resolved using detect and repair on the help menu. It says in the MSO 03 that cab file sku111 is missing so the above NIS file is not loaded. So it says insert the CD, etc.. The problem is when I insert it, it can not find the file. I have tried it I bet 10 times in the last 2 months, and twice today. Any suggestions besides reloading MSO? I really do not want to ***** with all the Docs, emails, excel, etc. etc.. as it was a nightmare 2.5 years ago saving and transerring the info and some did not load like it should have. So hoping that is the last resort. Thus looking for if anything else can be done to get the cab file downloaded.

Your problem with Outlook is not appropriate to this forum - I have moved your last post with edit to the Microsoft Mail Forum.

I just got enough time to surf or the last 90 minutes, had to shut down the computer twice already as it locked up that i could not open any links. So the uninstall, reinstall did NOT work. 1 time it had the ccApp pop up box come up when shut down.

So why is my system not working with NIS07? ANd what can be done?

    My suggestion ....

    Uninstall NIS 2007

    Run the Norton Removal Tool

Download and install Comodo - a first rate free firewall and AVG Free

If your system runs smoothly without NIS I would stick with the two apps above.

Yuo will have to wait for others familiar with Norton to comment further - I have not used any Norton product for years. You could always contact Norton support.
