I have been trying to install Net Framework 2.0 for the last 3 days ever since Hewlett Packard had me do a destructive recovery of my computer (for a dvd drive issue) I knew better but did the recovery anyway.

Anyway I have had the 2.0 installed before the recovery but now I can't get it to install at all. I wrote to Microsoft and a tech sent me an email this morning and had me run the installer cleanup removal tool. All it found was framework 1 so I removed it per their instructions and tried to install 2.0 but the same thing happened. The error I get is....

Error 25015. Failed to install assembly.
'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.VisualBasic.VSA.dll' because of system error: 0x80131107

I have no clue what to do.

    Hi, Karen.

I did a little poking around regarding your issue. I'm sorry I did not find an apparent fix. However, I did find an unresolved devnewsgroups.net thread that might get you going in the right direction.

Thank you Mailman. I ended up at this link http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=186501&SiteID=1 and took a chance and followed what "Landero" did and deleted the NetFrame 2.0 folder in windows and reinstalled and it worked. Control panel shows it has been installed so now off to find the updates for it.

    Thanks again...
