I have been having problems with my monitor not "waking" after not using computer for extended periods of time. I have power options applied (after 15 mins shut off monitor, 20 minutes hard drive). I tried changing the time intervals, but still have the problem. I would like to update my video drivers, but feel a little nervous about this. I went to the NVIDA website and found an updated driver that matched the one I have. They said to first uninstall the current drivers via add/remove. I'm nervous about this -- is that o.k to do or should I take other steps, etc. Any help will boost my confidence in this!

The instructions posted at nVidia are the standard and should be followed - uninstall the old drivers, reboot and the default Windows driver will be used. Install the new drivers following the on screen prompts precisely.

You should not have a problem following what is 'common practice'.

    Hi Pete,

I uninstalled the old drivers and windows forced me to reboot. Found new drivers at windows update and they were installed. I still have a funny screen though. Anyway, NVIDIA says before installing updated drivers to uninstall the old -- but the computer forces me to reboot which re-installs drivers -- still confused. I want to update my drivers. What is it I am not understanding?

    Nevermind

I realized I did not have to choose search Windows Update and I was able to install the new updates.

I should perhaps have mentioned that Windows would offer to search for new drivers, but I think the readme at nVidia for video drivers covers that - anyway glad to hear of your success :)
