wordpad .rtf file is binary or text?

Hello, can you help me if WordPad(.rtf) file , is all text file or binary file?
and if confirm text file, is simple changed [word] via Notepad.exe

thank you. Because I hope use Visual Basic to rewrite that .rtf file.

But I no sure is Binary or Text, if file is Text, I can easy to handle to changed something... and save as new .rtf file.

But if binary, I have no idea to do .


Because some simple report I hope to gen it. no always changed some value.
