Please don't be too startled by the title....bit of attention grabber eh!

Because my desktop PC has tossed it in for the time being I have had to resort to a laptop which I am not accustomed to using.

It has a DVD drive...but only one of course.

Can any body please tell me how I can burn from a DVD or CD.

I realise I'll need to transfer the DVD/CD content to my Hard Drive...somehow then from that location burn onto a blank DVD/CD

I have Nero and also Windows Media Player which has a rip facility.

I have had a couple of shots at it but can't seem to get my head around it at the moment.
    Thanks

Is it a DVD drive or a CD-RW/DVD Combo drive?

A DVD Only drive can't burn...

Seems lots of people with problems with this drive...

I know I'm not very helpfully here, but seems odd that you can't just simply burn.

    Makes sense ;)

    If it was me:

    1. I'd try updating the firmware

    2. Make sure cables are re-seated

    3. If still no go: buy a good quality drive (nothing other than Plextor in my system)

    The issue was software.

I was trying to burn with Nero and it presented the simplicty of it in a rather complicated procedure and didn't function to duplicate.

I have installed Sonic DVD Media software and it became a simple straight forward operation.

Hmmm... I've always liked Nero, although I don't use 'smart start' or 'Nero express'. I always start with 'Nero Burning ROM'.
