    Hi All,

I am trying to reinstall windows xp home. setup tells me it did not find any hard
disk drives installed on my computer. Make sure my hard disk drives are
powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacture-supplied diagnostic or setup program. I am a beginner. Can
    anyone help me out?

    Thank You

    Yupper

Yupper - Welcome to the Board :)

Can you fill us out with a little more detail .....

Was the computer running before you tried to re-install XP?

Is this a home built or OEM computer - Dell, HP, Gateway ......?

Have you had a problem which led you to think that a re-install was the best route to take?

How did you attempt to re-install XP - boot from the CD, run setup from within Windows or ??

Are you using a full, retail copy of XP or a Recovery disk supplied by your computer manufacturer?

Is the hard drive recognised in the BIOS? Hit F1 or Del as the computer boots to access the BIOS, often called setup.

Come back with some answers and we should have a starting point.

Please respond in the same thread - hit the Reply button - I have merged your three threads. This I don't follow .....
Firefox is not an operating system it is a browser like Internet Explorer.

Have you checked inside the computer case to see if the ribbon cable and power cable to the hard drive are firmly connected? If not you should do so and if you feel that that is beyond you then you will need to get some specialist help locally.

It is possible that your hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced.
