    Search hasn't helped.

    Hello-

I used Control Panel to uninstall Realplayer. Then entered "Real" into Search files and folders.

Lo and behold---over 50 entries are listed, only two of which do not pertain to Realplayer.

Tried to "select all" and "delete "---no go. So I deleted them one by one until I have 5 left, each one begetting a small popup stating "Error Deleting File or Folder" and reading "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk. "

The files listed after a folder symbol and the word "Real" are:

    C:\Program Files File Folder
    C:\Program Files\Common Files File Folder
    D:\Program Files File Folder
    D:\Program Files\Common Files File Folder
    D:\Windows\Start Menu\Progr... File Folder

C and D are two hard drives.

Obvious question being how do I get rid of them?

    Thank you

    2totango,

Have you checked the RealPlayer web site? I found this page on uninstalling. Here are some search results that I found when using their Knowledge Base feature.

Hope that helps. Post back and let us know.

    Hey MM-

Thanks for the quick answer. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything to help. Isn't it strange that they are all just empty folders?--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------oooops! Just did a "Real" search again and every file I deleted has reappeared. Will have to look further.

    Thanks again

You may have to start deleting references from the registry. If you go that route, make sure to back up your registry first.

Another thought. Have you tried deleting everything from Safe mode?

    Thanks again MM---

Solved , I hope, my own problem. Seems the files and folders were stashed in Norton's "Protected Files" and I had forgotten to empty that part of the Recycle Bin.

Why the folders disappeared I haven't a clue---but a search for "Real" now brings up nothing.

Good news! Glad to hear that the folders are gone. Made they finally decided they weren't welcome any more! :D
