I would guess it's the graphics driver.

Start in safe mode and roll back the driver in Device Manager.

    First try uninstalling the driver
    Ignore warnings...
    Reboot.
It should reinstall the driver , reboot.
( hopefully the proper non conflict causing driver)
If not boot into safe mode ( diagnostic mode with limited drivers running)
Go into safe mode if you can ( on windows bootup tap either f8 or f5).
one or the other or both should get you into safe mode.
Use system restore to set the windows back to a time before this all happened.
Be reassured that your data will stay the same and not be changed.
If you do not like the results you can undo the system restore and take it back to where you were

start > all programs > accessories > system tools > at bottom is system restore
    restore to an earlier time
If it can it will tell you
If it cannot it will also inform you

By the way not sure if you are familiar with the procedure of uninstalling a driver

my computer > right click > hardware > properties > hardware > device manager> right click > uninstall

    then reboot

If you think that families of alchoholics have conflicts try working with windows based computers

Right click My Computer then select Properties. Select the Advanced tab then click the Settings button for Startup and Recovery. Uncheck the box for Automatically restart. Click OK > OK. Now when a problem occurs the computer will blue screen and not restart. Copy the error shown in the BSOD and post it in a reply here.

Change the Startup and Recovery options.

Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery section > settings:

    Under System Failures:

Tick Write an event to the System Log.

    Un tick Automatically restart.

Make a note of the error code and as much info as you can.

EDIT: Hi Whiskeyman - I'm a little slow this morning.
