    Hello,

I inserted a cd full of .avi files and when prompted what to do I chose to open folder to see files, the windows open with the files but the explorer crashes and am prompted with another window to restart program or check online for solution I opted for the latter but I received nothing simply the explorer restarted.

I tried other cds with avi files and had the same problem I tried on another drive but with the same result. I restarted the computer this time opting for windows XP, no problems at all they show and works perfectly.

I restarted with vista and problem persisted. Other cd with other types of files works perfectly...........any help please !!!:(

This is what I get when I am prompted with window to restart or check for solution online.

Another thing I would also like to add is that when disk is inserted and prompted with auto play options if I choose Nero showtime it will open and plays files with no problem but if I choose windows media player it will crash and I get this error

I managed to solve the problem, funnily enough is seems that a codec was the culprit, it must have been corrupted because I used to play them with media player on Vista before, anyway I reinstalled vista codecs pack verion 442(the one I had installed) And neither explorer nor WMP crashed anymore. Maybe this will be of some help for others with my same problems :D
