My system is XP Home Edition, SP2, automatic update always on.

I got this update, which apparently relates to something called Microsoft.NET Framework. The update won't install, because I don't have that product on my computer.

How can I get the yellow shield out of my system tray and otherwise prepare the computer to receive future updates? The yellow shield persists in the system tray following re-boots and powering-down.

I tried looking in "add and remove programs" in the Control Panel, but this update was not listed. (Or if it was listed, I missed it.)

Hi, Seeker301. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

Issues with Microsoft's July 10, 2007 .NET Framework patches (including yours) seem to be widespread. Click here and here to see examples here at Windows BBS.

You might be able to click, right-click, or double-click (I don't recall which method works.) on the yellow shield and direct Windows to hide the update notification for KB928366. Other than that, I'm not sure what to suggest.

Yes, thanks. I did all those things before I posted. I wonder if this is going to be yet another embarrassment for MS.
