    Hi all :)

I'm forever wondering when a) The rent goes out and b) My salary goes in.

The ideal calendar for me would be something that:
    1) I can markup my IN\OUT dates for the year and forget it. But...
    2) It needs to stay completely hidden until I call it up with a shortcut.

I try and keep my computer clear of clutter and the last thing I want is a calendar that sits on my desktop, complete with clock, flashing lights and popup reminders.

If anyone knows of a suitable app, I'd appreciate your tip.

    Thanks

I use Rainlendar. If I'm understanding you correctly, it'll do what you want. You should be able to keep it closed and still retain whatever dates you've entered events for. FWIW, I allow this one to sit on my desktop. No flashing lights or anything like that. It's always been well behaved for me and has never caused any problem for me. At least none that I'm aware of. :) I like the little popup reminders it has. Don't let that word popup scare you though. It only does this if you tell it to when you create an event.

The greatest calendar program I have ever had was the one that came with Windows 3.1. I still use it and when I saw your request, I did a Google search and was surprised to see that it is available for download. You'll like it I'm sure.

    Calendar

I keep it in my startup group so that each day at first boot it opens up to the current day and I can check my reminders for the day. Then I just minimize it and there is no further nagging from it.

It requires no install and is completely stand-alone operable.

Just download the calendar.zip file from that link, unzip it to its own folder and move that folder to the root of your C: drive. Open the folder and double click the calendar.exe file. Then click File > Save As > and type YourName.cal and press enter. Then close the calendar program. You'll now see a file named YourName.cal with the other files there. Right-click it and choose Send To > Desktop as Shortcut and you'll be all set to run it anytime you choose. I think you'll also want a shortcut in the startups folder like I have since it makes a great daily reminder.

Ray, thanks for the tip. That one's good but a little elaborate for what I want, which is a calendar I can mark up with 26 fortnightly paydays and 26 fortnightly rentdays and then forget.

So if I'm broke and want to know when I'm getting an injection of funds, I can just hit a shortcut and bring up a screen which gives me the answers.

SurferDude's 3.1 calendar is just a touch too basic, but it does the job.

It's times like this when I wish I knew a little about Visual Basic - I guess a prog like I want wouldn't be too hard to write if I knew the ropes.

    Thanks again for posting :)

PS: For anyone wanting a great little reminder app, try 'Say The Time'. It's here:

    Cheers all
