Outlook Express: Unable to open attachments

    can someone help me get back to opening my attach files in outlook express I tryed Mozilla thunderbird 2.04 went back to outlook express made it my default but all my file attachment people send me outlook won't open them when I click on paper clip its just a file folder I had to reload thunderbird to open and see attachment.

    Go check in OE under Tools > Options > Security and ensure that 'Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened ....' is UNchecked.

    Can you pad out some detail here - when you click on the paperclip you do not see a file with an extension such as .doc, .jpg, but a file folder? I'm afraid I don't follow that.

    Yes when I click on the paper clip I see a file folder no ext.

    I am really puzzled by that as you can send a folder as an attachment in OE - I have just tried and NBG.

    My only suggestion is to re-register OE and it's associated library files as outlined here ....

    I can send a folder as a attachment, I explain when someone sends me a attachment and I click on the paper clip it appears as a folder only way I can open it is to load Mozilla thounderbird email . and my default is outlook express.

    There was a typo in my last post ....
    Cannot should have read can :( I have edited the post.

    I remain puzzled - if I click on a folder in the Insert Attachment box the folder opens to reveal the files therein, one or more of which I can attach. I am not sure if we are using different terminology here or not. The simplest way to solve this is for you to send me a folder containing an innocous file. You may use this disposable email address ....

    Received your email - that is not a folder it is an attached email message which has been forwarded several times. Screen shot is what I see in OE when clicking on the paperclip. The mail title together with the FW_ ... exceeds the length of the attachment window so the extension is hidden.

    Clicking on the file opens it in a message window in OE. From your previous posts it is not clear what happens when you click on FW_.... How to make ...
