I only found the Palladium discussion which was interesting but no SP3 or auto-restart information.

I'll try to paste. May have to split
Before you dive in and start swimming, you might want to take note of a
letter I received from a reader, Ken F.:

"I downloaded the network version (whole shebang) Win2K Service Pack 3 off
the Microsoft website -- this is the 127,909 kb version I'm talking about.
Although I don't run a network, I do have a desktop and a notebook (both using
Win2K) so I downloaded the large file, which I did before with SP1 and 2 with
no problems, intending to install it on both machines.

"My desktop (only one I tried this turkey on) is fully up to date with all
current patches as of a day or 2 ago. I burned the SP3 into a CD ROM and
installed it from there. There were no problems whatsoever with the install
which appeared to proceed normally. I did, fortunately, choose to backup the
pre-SP3 files to allow an uninstall. Rest will follow. Better way??

I downloaded the SP3 update and have had just one problem... when you logon as one of the users, and try to your the Program Microsoft Publisher... its launches the Install program. It was already installed under the admin account. If I put in the Office 2000 Disk 2 as requested, it goes through a brief thing and then the program runs... can someone tell me why? or how to correct?
    Thanks,
    Tony
