In response to Ramona's suggestion to delete .msf files I did a search of my C: drive and found 39 files. All seemed to be related to important e-mail data (e.g. inbox.msf) I'd hate to lose. When I clicked on one, I learned that "Description: Windows does not recognize this file type ".

If Ramona could please explain what files with the .msf extension do and why they need to be deleted in order to get past for instance the "Unable to write to this mail box...." error message, (using Netscape 7.2) I'd be more comfortable deleting the files assured I wasn't wiping out a significant compacted history of e-mails.

This issue has come up many times. You will not lose anything by deleting files like Inbox.msf. But, you would lose everything in the folder if you delete the file with no extention likeInbox.
The .msf files are summary files, probably that's why there is an sf in them.
Basically the mail is in Unix format, a large file with messages back to back. Only the .msf files will separate those files. The .msf can become corrupt, and deletion is a good fix.
word of caution. Netscape should closed, and with the program closed the files can be deleted, and will be rebuilt on reopening the program.
    Is it clear?
