Right after i plugged it in i restarted my CPU and my resolution is now at 800x600 it does not let my change the resolution, I have a Nvidia FX 5950 Ultra with the latest drivers. Welcome JamieRS19 to Windows BBS Forums.

It would be helpful if you could provide the full model number. We need to determine if this is a monitor or a TV/Monitor. If a 20" TV/Monitor, screen resolution can be reduced to a maximum 800 x 600. Again we can provide better answers if we have the model number.

Should be no problem finding the model number.
Follow this Magnavox link ... How do I find my model number?
It should be on the product label fixed to the backside of the display or printed on the Owners Manual.

Resolution settings available for Magnavox / Phillips Model #20MF605T/17
Please observe 20" LCD TV portion of the chart.
It would appear the maximum resolution for this display is 800 x 600. If this is a recent purchase and you are not happy with this feature contact the seller. Most sellers would be happy to make an exchange. If you do, BEFORE you agree / exchange, post full make and model and we will check and provide you with resolutions settings of display. Without doing a lot of research, I would be very suspicious that larger TV/Monitor displays (LCD's) might have a lower resolution than you would prefer (possible a pricey one exists). Their are ways to get around this ...
CRT (tube type) - TV/Monitors can be run higher than 800 x 600. This would be your least cost solution.
If you want to stay with a LCD type, purchase a Monitor type and add TV card or a combination graphic cards with TV output to computer... again need to check resolution options when run as a TV only or TV / monitor (per example PIP options). You could also purchase a external TV Tuner to run the monitor as a TV ... this may require special switches. Their is always ways to get what ones wants .. but generally complexity and price increase.

It would if it was a dedicated monitor and not a combo. My 22" Iiyama flat screen runs natively at 1600 x 1200
