    Hi

Problem: Can't get Folder Redirection GPO to apply for one user only.
Receive Error (from RSOP): "The security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object." In GPRESULT: shows the user Folder redirection GPO is "Applied ", but 'My documents' doesn't redirect to his home drive on the server.

Troubleshooting: The GPO is linked to an OU. User is in the correct OU. Gave user full permissions to his Home drive. Renamed user profile on local pc so when he logs on again, it creates a fresh profile, got same error. Signed onto a different laptop as same user, got same error.

It looks to be related to the user, but not sure what else to try short of deleting the user account and recreating it (seems a bit drastic and doesn't tell me what is causing the problem).

Additional info: We're running XP Pro in a Windows Server 2003 mixed envir (Some win 2000 server still running).

    Help is appreciated!!!
    Cheers :)

    Thanks Arie... but...

I actually saw this article on the FAQs on the microsoft site??... after I posted this... We use Folders that are already created so the second option is appropriate...

"If the folders already exist and have data in them, uncheck the "Grant the user exclusive rights to my documents" checkbox on the settings page of the Folder Redirection dialog. This tells Folder Redirection not to do the ownership check and assume the permissions are OK. If you do this, you'll need to make sure to set the permissions correctly. "

    * "Grant the user exclusive rights to my documents" is already disabled in the
    GPO in GPMC.
    * The user has ownership permissions on the home folder he is trying to
    redirect to.

    Any other ideas???
    Cheers :)

    Thanks Arie,

I've browsed the article you gave me and checked the suggested permissions against the users' folders on the laptop and te home drive, they are correct.

I checked the Application log (Event Viewer) and found 2 errors that consistently appear together when the user logs on. They Are:

    Source: Userenv, ID 1085
The Group Policy client-side extension IP Security failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension.

    and...

    Event Source: Folder Redirection
    Event ID: 112

I'm looking up fixes for them now, but if you have prior knowledge.... :D

    Cheers,:)

There's some info for when this is happening on Server OS, but that doesn't apply to Win9x OS, don't think I can help there.

    Fixed!!! :)

    :D :D :D

Here's what I did to fix this issue:
Deleted the users' account in Active Directory. Recreated it and reconnected it with his old mailbox. The H drive, My docs and Gpresult give same symptoms. RSOP gives no errors(it used to), but Application logs give same errors, although event ID 112 is now specifically on My music folder in H drive. Deleted My Music folder. User logged off and then on again. Folder Redirection worked! However, the user could access some folders, not others on H. On folders \ files user could access, the user account has correct permissions, folders he cant access, the sid does not resolve (might be old sid that's been deleted). Domain admins had to take ownership of root H folder and then re assign the user full control to it, then propagate that to all child folders \ files.

Once this was done, folder redirection remained in tact and User had full access to his H drive.

    phew!!;)
