Similar mouse issues and scrolling problems

Hi - I am having similar issues with the mouse pointer moving slowly or in a jerky manner. In additional, I cannot get my scroll wheel to work properly. I have reset it numerous times to every possible option under control panel > settings > mouse > buttons. Every time I attempt to make any changes, I get a Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows window with the following:

"To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program.

Name: Run a DLL as an App
    Publisher: Microsoft Corporation:

Background - just replaced old hard drives as one of them crashed, new memory and new motherboard. Installed latest version of Windows XP Home Edition. Reinstalled McAffee Anti-Virus Suite as well as other anti-virus and fire wall software.

It would appear that I have a virus ( Backdoor.Ip.Protect.A) that seems to get fixed/quarinteed, but still getting the Run a Dll as an App and unable to change any settings on my mouse.

I am somewhat of a novice but not totally, and I have exhausted everything I can think of to resolve the issue.

Please help - I really don't want to reformat the new drives and reinstall everything.

    Thanks, Linda.

Open Task Manager and see it this process exists:
    6aacb92b.exe (or similar named)
If so, kill the process. Then search the computer for the file called 6aacb92b.exe and delete it.

Virus - Mouse - Scorlling issue

Thanks - I checked the processes in Task Manager and it is not there. I think with all of the anti-virus software I now have running, I think it caught and quarantined it - I still have the jerky mouse and scrolling issues. I still cannot get the action of the scroll wheel to be smooth and the mouse still jerks around and is slow to respond. Still getting "run dll as an app" when I try to change the scroll and mouse actions in the control panel.

    Thanks again, Linda
