Windows Vista Transparent taskbar

    Hi,

    I have Vista ultimate installed and the toolbar was semi transparent but after exploring some setting I noticed that it is not transparent any more while the windows are. The enable transparency box is ticked and settigs are for best appearance. Ieven tried windows restore but did not resolve this problem. I am sure there must be some setting somwhere to renable taskbar transparency again. Thank you for your help,

    Which toolbar?

    Do you mean the Taskbar? Or Windows Sidebar?

    AFAIK there's no transparency setting for the Windows Taskbar natively, you probably have a 3rd party tool that does this (or it could be a function of your display driver).

    Hi,

    I'm sorry for the trouble but I have changed my desktop to a brighter picture and the taskbar transparency is more evident now. I have no third party programs to modify GUI it must be the Aero default theme.

    Hello,

    I noticed that my taskbar was not transparent again, but this time I managed to solve this problem. It was the PowerDVD toolbar which I enabled in the taskbar to show when PowerDvd is minimized. I also found a program called VistaGlazz which will patch files to make the The title bar and taskbar also tansparent when windows are maximized, since by defaul when a window is maximized the titlebar turns black and taskbar becomes solid(not transparent). Hope that this will be of some help ;)
