In addition to CPU temp did you see the other voltage data I quoted? ....
    Doesn't look good.

Jitesh might already have SP2 with the latest patches on the current installation. The 2001 dates might just be a problem with not having the correct symbols extracted to the proper location. These symbols should be extracted into the C:\Symbols folder on the hard drive. (See the listing of the folders in my C:\Symbols folder below.*)

(EDIT: Admittedly, I do not know how DebugWiz and the Windows Debugging Tools use the symbols when generating a crash dump log. :()

Here's a link to a thread I posted about slipstreaming with Autostreamer. Seemed to work pretty slick (though I still have not completely tested with a fresh install on a hard drive  ). Of course, one needs to do this on a computer with a reliable CD-R burner to make a slipstreamed disk.

    ==========

*If my computer is set up correctly (I think is is.), the following folder names should be in the C:\Symbols folder for DebugWiz to work properly. One should also be connected to the Internet when running DebugWiz in case any updated symbols are available at Microsoft's symbols server.

    FOLDERS in C:\Symbols:

OOPS! I had posted the wrong link in my message above for obtaining the Symbols. I corrected that link.

I'm sorry about any confusion I may have caused anyone.

    Hi mailman :) ,
Actually I was looking through the list of drivers in the Everest report. The same MS drivers on my SP2 system are dated 2004 (specifically, I was looking at the drivers for the CPU).

Ooh, I might see if I could find another power supply to test with...although...I had a similar strange readout (think it was the +5V) on my previous main system, a Gigabyte mobo, it ran fine like that for many years. Maybe check the voltage readouts in the BIOS settings at startup. Everest can and does misread somtimes and the monitors will be governed by the BIOS and have to be read back through the system drivers. Lots of areas for miscalculation. When the Gigabyte mobo finally passed away though, it seemed to be due to bad capacitors, which, are involved in regulating voltage

The problem manifesting itself in the optical drive still makes me confused.

Hi Guys, Thanks 4 all the replies..

I Formatted the pc on Friday night, Re-installed Windows and the Drivers that came with Cd.. Tested it by copying some stuff to the pc and burning a few dvd's.. ALL worked well with no errors.. I read your thread yesterday about service pack 2 and went home last night Uninstalled Nero, installed service pack2 and then reinstalled Nero.. I downloaded an update from the Nero Website so I also installed that..

Tested it out by copying an mp3 and what do u know, it started its nonsense again.. It failed at 99% while burning. Just came up with a menu saying internal error.. Dont know if the Nero update or service pack 2 caused it.

Oh another thing i want to add is my cable configuration was incorrect. The jumper setting was fine but thanks to Matts link on master and slave, I now know exactly how it works.:)
I have now connected my 160Gig as master, 40 gig as slave on the primary channel and the DVD writer as master on the secondary channel.Seems like a better configuration.

Will test it out again tonight and let u know, just to answer some of your questions on the previous thread, see below....

I currently have the case removed.

I have installed service pack 2 after the format and the date of the drivers still show 2001, I dont know if there has been a new release or whether the old dates may cause anything though.

Yes I have taken this into consideration and the music that I am copying is not copyrighted, thats for sure.

Unfortunately the friends of mine who do have pc's dont have the same ram so Cannot swap and test..:(

I have uninstalled McAfee and installed Norton Anti Virus. While you on the topic of Page Files, I noticed yesterday after installing service pack2 and while the cd was burning, a little bubble opened up on the screen, saying
    "virtual memory is low "..

I installed Xp on the 160GIG as someone mentioned since it is a newer HDD. I
did format and partition it thou, the pc only recognised 130GIG so i had to go to control panel>computer management and partition and format the other 30Gig myself.

I actually do have a spare one at home but the connector that goes onto the mother board is different so i didnt know what to do....

What do u guys think, must i unistall SP2 and nero update and test for a while????

    Thanks guys

    Random comments ....
XP only recognised drives up to 137 Gb - SP2 resolved that problem.
Symptomatic of having only 256 Mb RAM when using a memory intensive program.
Do not uninstall SP2 - that is a must have - the Nero update you could try, but it means uninstalling Nero and then reloading - without the update. Check that CD burning is disabled on the burner (this is Windows native burning software) - Right click on drive in My Computer > Properties > Recording tab. Not essential to have it turned off when using third party burning software, but worthwhile.

I take it that you did not load InCd this time around?

Your spare PSU is for an earlier design of motherboard and is not suitable.

    Hi

I didn't notice the status of the hard drive after installing sp2. The virtual memory only came up when useing Nero so I guess Nero does require a lot of Ram..Could buy more ram as i said previously but lets make sure its not the MOBO faulty.

Is this location correct, i tried it on my work pc and couldn;t seem to find it..

Yes i did not install INCD this time round, will re-install Nero and test..

    Thanks Pete

You did right click on the optical drive? Clearly it must be a RW drive to show the Recording tab.

Hi Guys Sorry for such a late reply, been very busy at work upgrading our lines.

Just wanted to let u guys know that As Pete Mentioned I did Leave Service Pack 2 installed. I uninstalled Nero and the updat and re-installed it without INCD.

The pc is working like never before. It copies data disks and mp3's in Just 3minutes. I copied dvd video files in just 8minutes. It has never worked so well. I think maybe the INCD could have been corruoting it from the beginning. Didn't get a blue screen from the time i RE-formatted it. I have only installed DVD Decryptor and NERO so far for the testing process. Will install some other programs and test. Will let u guys know.

If all goes well, i will consider buying more Ram. Will this speed up the burning and ripping process??

Another problem i did experience though is that when I go to control panel>Administrative tools>computer management>disk management.. The hard drive still shows 130 gig and another 30gig unpartitioned. The only way i can use this 30 Gig is If i partition that drive and give it its own drive letter, example D:\.. Is there anyway I can use the whole hard drive as a complete 160GIG DRIVE.

I still couldn't find this Pete. The System Properties window opens but the only menu's are GENERAL,COMPUTER NAME, HARDWARE, ADVANCED & REMOTE. Which menu will I find recording Tab..

Guys Thanks VERY MUch for your Help, will keep you posted:) :)
ONCE AGAIN THIS SITE IS AMAZING.. Keep up the Good Work;)

Delighted to hear we have a positive outcome here :) Time will tell if InCd was the culprit - I had bad experiences of that going back to the release of XP (constant BSOD's) and have never had need for it anyway - and never installed it since.

The addiion of more RAM will certainly speed up up the whole computer - 256 Mb is the barest minimum for XP to work, despite what MS may say.
That's because you loaded XP wihout SP 2 integrated I suggest you slipstream SP 2 into your XP install CD. XP prior to SP 2 (I thnk it was SP 2 as opposed to SP1) only recognsed drives up to 137 Gb. I thnk you will find that the 30 G s unallocated. Just create a partition in that space and keep your important data there. Then you are in a position to format the C:\ partition without losing the data. The only way you can combine the two partitions is to use third party software such as Partition Magic
You are looking in the wrong place :) As I posted .
the drive being your DVD-RW drive

    You are .

Glad to hear you are still running smoothly :)
I would not think so, they are 'common or garden' programs. Set a manual System Restore point before loading for safety.
