    Hi all,
Is it possible to install Windows Vista Ultimate from a Windows Vista Business DVD and evaluate it for 30 days before activating it if i want to see if business is not enough for me?
I am new to Vista. Many thanks for all your help!

Nope...When you purchase Vista, the keycode you purchased determins which version you can use...

There are tons of articles that explain the differences between the versions.

    Hello Christian08,

Google with the phrase - Anytime Upgrade

    An example http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/37070041-1b90-4433-be0c-ab2855841b981033.mspx

Reading these articles, you can upgrade a particular version to another, but not all, and you have to buy the license ahead of time - doesn't seem to give you "free" evaluation period.

    From one of the faqs:

    Regards - Charles

Nothing stopping you installing Ultimate if you don’t enter a product key during setup. Of course you won’t be able to let it connect to Microsoft and so won’t be able to download the Ultimate extras "“ which are probably the things you would most want to test.

What parts of Ultimate do you want? If it’s mainly Virtual PC then that is a free download at the moment.

If you want BitLocker then are you sure your hardware will support it?

Services for UNIX can be run in a VirtualPC 2K/XP-Pro/2K3 install. The latest version 3.5 is again a free download.

Most of the other stuff you can do better and cheaper with third party software.

If you install Vista DVD, pick out Ultimate, but choose not to enter key, you will have it for 30 days until you activate. Only then you have to enter a valid serial for that particular version. I haven't tested entering another version key though. Like: you install Ultimate and then when you activate you use a valid Home Premium key, for example! Hope to have helped.
