2 CD Drives Missing

    I have CD RW,DVD R and DVD,CD RW Drives. Both not shown in My Computer. Both shown in Device Manager with yellow markers. Put in a CD and it spins and stops. Try to update Drivers, nothing. Ran VirusScan, Spybot and Adaware, nothing. Tried unattend Repair, nothing. Tried Last Known Configuration, nothing. All restore points are missing. There is usually one each day. Cannot run a CD repair, or reinstall to get out of this mess.

    Removing the references to upper and lower filters in the registry often works here .....

    As you appear to have other problems the above may not be the solution :(

    Well, PeteC you did it again. This time I was up against the wall I could not get over, around or through. Do not know how I got there. I will save that, Web site in case it ever happens again. Thanks alot!!!

    Missing cd roms

    Do they show up in the bios ?
    If not unplug the drives .
    Reboot .
    Shut down.
    Plug them back in and let the system and hopefully windows find them.
