cd-rom player and cd-rom rewriter are suddenly disappeared
    in WINDOWS 98.

After this there is a conflict mentioned at the secundaire IDE
    controller.

Tried to install driver, but not succesfull, in the BIOS the cd-roms
still excists, run several diagnostic programs, nothing found.
disconnected both cd-roms and reconnected, not successful.

The IDE controller is of MAXTOR type 90680D4

    Hey Bark..Welcome to the boards.

In the device manager, highlight and remove the secondary IDE controller. After reboot windows will put it back. Hopefully without a problem. Your CD Drives are plugged imto the secondary IDE slot on your MB so they should be ok also.

Let us know if this is working. If not, what is the conflicting device?

    cdrom gone

If reboot doesn't set the drivers for the ide correctly then make sure your jumpers are set rite. If your hard drive & one cdrom are on same cable, see if the hard drive has a jump for "Master With Slave" :D

Are you running or did you have Easy CD Creator - if so, this is a known problem. Uninstall software, reboot and advise. May require a registry patch too. Please advise.
