Okay, here's the deal. Both my friend and I are using TB 2.0.0.4. I seem to be having different issues between his and mine and am now wondering if I should just re-install his.

Not only does his Junk Mail option not work as mine, today when I was helping him familiarize himself with sending and receiving messages I clicked on WRITE and not only did he get a compose window, his Address Book appeared on the left side of the screen right below his folders. I clicked on View/Layout and saw that it was set for Classic View and figured that was the problem.

So when returning home I went into my mailbox and saw that mine was set for Wide View. No problem. So I clicked on View/Layout/Classic and no way does my Address Book show up on the compose screen.

Is there another setting that I am missing here?

He is about ready to jump back to Outlook and I know he will like TB if I can get it working.

    Thanks.

Try this, click on Write. When the new page comes up, go to View and then see if Contacts Sidebar is checked. If so, uncheck it. If at any time you select the contacts to come up, it will continue to come up until you change that. Hope that helps.

    Mike,
I think that the Contact Sidebar is default. I never thought for a moment of it, until you brought up the subject. Someone must have clicked on the Close Sidebar X

    Dang, if that wasn't it.

When it came up on his PC that was the FIRST time I had seen it. I never had it on mine before and I just tried it. What a relief. These petty things are driving me nuts.

    Thanks so much.

    vegaspat,

I think they drive all of us nuts! At least it was an easy solution. Glad it helped.

    FWIW,
I dont' think that contactsidebar is default set to display. The status of the sidebar is stored in the "localstore.rdf" file. (sidebarVisible=). True or False status is retained based on what the status was when TB is closed and/or localstore.rdf is written to the HD.

Status can be changed as MIKE said "uncheck the View setting" or Close the sidebar with the close button.

Just my thoughts and I could be wrong..

From what I can tell, the "sidebar" is only available in the write (compose) window....
Toggle the "contacts" button. (there may be an extension someplace that adds other sidebars - I don't know). When in "write" mode with NO sideBar - Note that in "View" =No check in "Contact Sidebar" - Toggle "contacts" button - sidebar appears - Note "view" = "Contacts Sidebar" shows checked. Sidebar status can be controlled by either the "View" menu or the "Contacts" button.
Sidebar state is saved in "localstore.rdf" when that file is written to. (I believe this is when TB is closed - I am not sure if it is written to at other times from within TB ? )

    Again, I could be wrong.

    captjlddavis,

The way you explain it is the way it works for me. The contacts sidebar will appear as it did when you last used it. If you last had it showing, it will show. If you didn't have it showing, it will not show the next time you open TB.
