 I attempted to uninstall IE7, then uninstall the driver for PaperPort so I could install an updated driver, then reinstall IE7. None of it worked out well, as PaperPort is still using the older driver, IE7 didn't completely uninstall, and now both programs have issues. I get an error window in IE7 that says "failed to load vendorprefs ". Any ideas? Am thinking that I have to somehow completely uninstall IE7, then reinstall. Thanks

I have no idea - plenty of hits on Google, but no explanation as to what they are and no solutions posted to the 'failed to load vendorprefs' message, apart from a reinstall of the OS or a System Restore.

Went ahead and tried Method 2, and got the message that "The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." What do you suggest now? Thanks

Try reinstalling IE 7 'over the top' of what is already there.

:( Not sure of any next steps. IE7 won't install or uninstall. Now what? Thanks

As IE 7 appears to be somewhat trashed your options are becoming limited - System Restore or a Repair install of XP.

In either case an up to date backup of your data is essential.

Ugh! I haven't found System Restore to be very helpful; I liked Norton GoBack much better. And I couldn't install GoBack because my cpu came installed with a backup partition. It also didn't come with a Windows XP cd. I hate problems. Thanks for the help.
