AOL front

Greetings,
I find it difficult to believe that i am the only one with this issue.

AOL 9.x loads & installs from the OEM disc,
it runs. However, when i sign out, it updates itself, then i can't sign in unless i start "quickfix" (¿AOL software?) to release the IP address EACH and EVERYTIME i wish to use AOL. This includes AOL VR, as well as AOL SE.
I am running XP latest update.

ideas to prevent it from updating itself out of functionality?

(ps i am currently using AOL 8.0)

 

I do not use AOL. Some suggestions.
Once you do your normal "jump through the hoops" to get on Internet, go to AOL site and download current AOL 9 install file (only have AOL browser program running at this time). Once file has downloaded, AOL 9 should automatically close your browser window and run install process (per information on AOL site). On the the same download page, their is a F&Q for most common questions.

part of that IS the issue. once it is shut down, it automaticly updates the current version, and takes itself out of functionality. It even tells you shutting down your 'puter while it updates itself may cause "damage" to the software.
