    Hi All,

Two computers, each with WindowsXP Pro SP2, one has a good background to print contrast for the screens in question. The task bar, and for example, the System Properties screen (Windows Key + Pause Key) on the other is dark so that the black printing requires real effort to see the content. The desktop background on each is the same. How do I change the background of screens which now are too dark?

The monitor should have buttons to allow adjustment.
First setting I would work with would be contrast.

    Dennis L,

The monitor is a Sony and about ten years old. I took your advice and checked the contrast setting, it was about 87%. When I moved the contrast setting to 100% there was a slight improvement. I suppose I'll have to live with the old monitor and its failings. Thank you for the advice and help.

Another option may be Control Panel > Accessibility Options > Display - use high contrast.

    PeteC,

That did it. I had earlier been to the Accessibility Options but was scared off with the black background and some strange colored printing. Following your advice my second trip was more detailed and using the High Contrast White selection gave me what I was looking for. Thank you for your help.

Thanks Pete, good to know (I did a fly-by test).
    About my only suggestion....
Best have sunglasses on when using this setting. :)
After a few minutes of use, had my perfect summer tan. :D
