I finally got my Documents and Settings backed up --- and, to save space on my hard drive, I deleted all my photos and videos. Oops! Shouldn't have done that. I should have copied them to CDs first for easy access.

So, now I've restored all that I backed up, and I need to recover My Photos and My Videos. Using Windows Backup program and clicking on just those two folders for recovering, I'm getting this message:
Check backup file location. Backup name: Desktop Backup, 6-13-2007.bkf created 6-13-07 at 2:56 p.m. The backup file could not be found or is not the file that was requested. Please verify this is the correct location for the backup.

I can't tell that it's not the correct location; it certainly looks like it. Where am I going wrong?

    Hi aks,

Is there an OK button to press, and of so, what happens?

If the message just keeps repeating, then there is something wrong with that backup file.

    A bit of advice:

Don't use XP's backup - just copy files with Explorer (drag and drop) to a designated by you backup folder(s), and then burn that folder(s) out.

The advantage to the backup program is that it compresses, but when compression is involved, in other words, changing the file, the greater the probability that things can go wrong.

    Regards - Charles

    Thank you, Charles

Charles, computers never cease to amaze me. I went back into the restore process to make sure I could answer your question accurately about the OK button, and voila! the silly program restored the files I needed! All is well, but thank you for your response.

    Hi Alice,

Great, hoping that was what would happen :)
